TWAS (Thickened Waste Activiated Sludge) Vault Expansion
Carver was selected in through an RFQ process by the Regional District of Central Okanagan to complete the construction for the Thickened Waste Activated Sludge Vault Expansion in West Kelowna, BC. Construction for this project consisted of the demolition of two abandoned fermenters and associated piping and constructing a new C.I.P. two cell TWAS Storage Vault including a drywell adjacent to the existing Equalization Tanks. The drywell houses two new progressive cavity TWAS pumps. All required process piping, valves and appurtenances for the thickened waste activated sludge, process air and foul air extraction were installed along with all associated electrical, instrumentation, controls and HVAC.
The removal of the existing progressive cavity pump in the Headworks Building and modifications to the DAF (Dissolved Air Floatation) discharge piping was required with the retrofit of the primary effluent piping along with all new underground piping for the new plant flow while the existing plant maintained operation.
